I thought the dawn of reason was right around the corner, but if Ned thinks it is a long way off, and Carl is so infernally modest and unsure of himself, then let's schedule this duel for . . . next week! I have at least one more post I would like to make on my blog. I have to admit I have been afraid of being in a duel ever since I read about Alexander Hamilton. Every good schoolboy of course identifies with Hamilton, and secretly admires Burr. Where should we meet? I live mostly in my thoughts.

It's true, if we're waiting for my reason to dawn we may have to set a spell.

Yes, on the face of it a crude instance of 'organic offense' but slyly interwoven with a 'mechanical offense' to my competence as a scholar. Really nicely done. Pistols at dawn, then - will you be my Second, N.?
